OLD GOLDEN HOLLYWOOD

Probably the 1930's. A bit before my time in Hollywood, which began in the late 1950's when the Capitol Records building towered over the record business. Looks like Vine Street to me.

Used under terms and conditions with thanks from Dover Publishing

WHATS IN THAT PIPE HE'S SMOKING?

Christine here: I couldn't help myself with that title. But doesn't this look like the Santa Arlo Guthrie was singing about? (Pete Tambunga's not the only one allowed to have a sense of humor here!)

THANKSGIVING : EVERY DAY IS FOR GRATITUDE

Christine Trzyna here: Wes and me were thinking about what we are grateful for. I said I appreciated the opportunity he has given me to work with him over the years and how much I've learned about the early Rock and Roll scene since I met him and we've worked on our blog and our book. He said he could not do it without me.
Actually we could not produce this blog if it were not for a lot of technology that other people invented or let us use for free that we could not otherwise afford, such as Google Blogger first and foremost. We also use - and want to thank - Youtube (and a great many Youtubers, especially our Swedish friend Arne who has been hosting Wes Bryan music videos for some time)... Yahoo, Meez (our avatars), Photobucket, (our streaming pictures) and the Los Angeles Public Library, especially for their Internet services and Databases that I use considerably in order to research and write.

One of the themes of this blog, besides music, is FRIENDSHIP. I think we can all say that we feel gratitude every day for those people who have been good and true to us through the years. Wes and I have become friends over time and that makes working on this special.

We want to thank YOU too for stopping by our blog, making WES BRYAN - MY LIFE IN MUSIC one of your reading waystation, as you make your way through your day!

GREETINGS OF THE SEASON from WES and HIS FAMILY!

We've been having cold weather - high winds and visable snow on the mountains north of us - the Sierra Madre - for the last week or so, but Santa has long had to forget the sleigh and find some other way to deliver here in the land of palm trees.
Keep warm!

(225) ELVIS' BIRTHDAY

Today as we celebrate the birthday of Elvis Presley, I've been thinking about Elvis and how family oriented he was, and how much he would have loved to have been a grandfather. In October - a couple months ago - Lisa Marie gave birth to twin daughters, making Elvis and Priscilla grandparents x4. It makes me sad to think that Elvis missed out on being a Grandpa, but at the same time I believe he is in Eternal Life.
Previously we blogged on the rumors that Elvis is still alive. I'm sorry, but he isn't. I have no doubts whatsoever.

Let's remember Elvis not as the performer but the human being.

A BLESSED CHRISTMAS TO YA !

HAPPY THANKSGIVING from WES BRYAN and CHRISTINE TRZYNA

Though our American economy is in trouble, especially in Los Angeles, we want to be thankful for what we do have and that certainly includes our loyal friends.
I was thinking of Elvis Presley, a man who never took for granted his gifts from God. Elvis gave thanks to God - to Jesus Christ - for his talent and he felt it was a gift he was meant to use, to be an entertainer and help people forget their problems for a while. He also chose to record Gospel as a means to uplift their spirits - and his.The Elvis I knew was a dichotomy in his way. He was a famous Rock and Roller and a sensualist, but also a Gospel Singer, a devout believer in Christ, with great loyalty to family and his family of friends. To be part of his musical Rock and Roll family at the house was a honor.
