(140) DION and the BELLMONTS 1961 # 1 RUNAROUND SUE

Dion and the Bellmonts had the #1 hit "Runaround Sue," in 1961. Here's a YouTube video of the performance.

Now, the number one hits of the year included a diverse number of sounds. "Runaround Sue" is in the DooWop category... and more than one DooWop song went high on the charts even though this sound is thought of as the 1950's now, plenty of people loved that sound and continued to buy records.

Mr. Bryan,
I enjoy your website very much. It is svery informative and interesting. You have a keen insight into the music scene in the 1950's and 1960's in America. I do not know if you still record, but I would love to hear a collection of your ballads, such as All for the Love of a Girl and Melody D'Amore and others. Perhaps, you are still recording in the States? Did you ever record Image of a Girl? I have not seen it, but thought I remember it.
My best wishes.

Hello:
The Safari's did Image of a Girl, but Mr. Bryan might have covered it. He has the voice!

Image of a Girl was recorded by the Safaris. Mr. Bryan may have covered it. He certainly has the voice for it!
