Terry Gordon and a great group of volunteers started Rockin Country Style a few years ago, and they have posted the equivalent of a music encyclopedia. THE FOCUS HERE IS ROCKABILLY!
You can search by artist or by label, and sound sample all you like. We believe this is still an ongoing project that you may be able to contribute to.

ROCKIN COUNTRY STYLE (RCS DISCOGRAPHY) REMAINS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE SITES!
RCS DISCOGRAPHY was one of our early Internet inspirations when we thought about posting a blog. Started as a volunteer project out of a University, Terry Gordon and his team took the site Independent several months ago. It's like a Rockabilly Encyclopedia, a terrific research tool for all of you who have told us that you use the web for school projects, offering a lot of sound samples, regional label information, and more. Besides the Rockabilly Hall of Fame site, RCS was one of the first to list me, Wes Bryan, back when I was in awe of any mention at all of me on the net.
In updating the links for WES BRYAN - MY LIFE IN MUSIC, RCS Discography is one of our important updates. We will continue to do so, knowing that this esteemed site is to be relied on!

RCS DISCOGRAPHY WE THANK YOU AGAIN!
We are so lucky to have a great resource like RCS discography on the Internet. This volunteer project is a real labor of love and ROCKIN COUNTRY STYLE DISCOGRAPHY WAS PROBABLY THE FIRST SITE ON THE INTERNET TO HAVE A PAGE for me, WES BRYAN, which got us interested and then hooked. Since we're going to talk about Sun records and then Judd records a bit this is a good place to mention how grateful we are to have RCS!
We're talking here about early Rock and Roll - Rockabilly- Rockin Country Style and one of the most fascinating things about that era was that it was the time of small regional labels. So using the LABEL search feature we can go right to them and see who they were recording, hear sound samples, get profiles and pictures in some cases.
Now folks, RCS can't take donations as things are set up, but you can always express your appreciation in other ways. Send them a note in the U.S. mail or an e-mail ! Or get involved if you have some records you are willing to share for a time so that more clips can be uploaded! The volunteer team there headed up by Terry Gordon has done a great job of supplying music clips as well as photos of actual records and covers.
Using the GEOGRAPHICAL search is a fascinating way to see what SMALL LABELS existed and who recorded on them. Elvis Presley and so many others walked into Sun Records in Memphis to produce a recording - vanity or low budget. Other Rockabilly and Country artists to be were doing so all over America in smaller towns and markets. Go to the state and the town/label and give a listen to a local hopeful giving it their all! You can also use the RCS LABEL search to see who was recording at Sun besides Elvis and get a feel for the body of work from a particular studio.

ROCKIN' COUNTRY STYLE : RCS DISCOGRAPHY
We want to THANK ROCKIN' COUNTRY STYLE, also called RCS Discography, for all the hard work they've done over there at Emory University to present a viable history of Country Rock and Roll - sometimes called Rockabilly - to you. If you've been reading this blog and listening to the sound samples, you know we've been leaning on RCS heavily. Now folks, RCS can't take donations as things are set up, but you can always express your appreciation in other ways. Send them a note in the U.S. mail or an e-mail ! Or get involved if you have some records you are willing to share for a time so that more clips can be uploaded!
(I just love to listen to the snap, crackles, and pops on vintage vinyl!)

Every studio is different in sound quality and feel. This is something that I as a music producer am careful about. It's not just getting the right singer or musicians together.

ROCKIN' COUNTRY STYLE -RCS DISCOGRAPHY - MUSIC SAMPLES
If you're curious about some of my early music, you may want to check out ROCKIN' COUNTRY STYLE, also called RCS Discography. The volunteer team there headed up by Terry Gordon has done a great job of supplying music clips and a great many of my friends are listed with them, including Elvis insider and funny man Cliff Gleaves' records.
